Emotional Support

As an end of life doula (or coach),  I create a safe and comforting space where individuals can express their fears, hopes, and desires about death. I provide compassionate presence, active listening, and help navigate the emotional complexities of dying, alleviating anxiety and isolation during this vulnerable time.

Advocacy and Decision Support

I am an advocate ensuring the dying person's wishes are respected and honored. I mediate between families and healthcare providers, helping to communicate end-of-life preferences clearly and ensuring these directives are followed, relieving families from difficult decision-making under stress.

Education and Guidance

I explain the signs and symptoms of the dying process, helping families understand what to expect. And, I provide valuable information about end-of-life options, normalize conversations about death, and help individuals and families make informed decisions throughout the journey.

Respite Care and Practical Support

Death doulas like me provide relief for exhausted caregivers, assist with physical care, run errands, help with household tasks, and coordinate with other service providers. This practical assistance allows families to focus on spending quality time with their loved one.

After-Death Care

Following death, I can continue supporting families, guiding them through early stages of grief. I sometimes help coordinate funerals, assist with body preparation for home funerals, or connect families with grief resources and support groups.

Spiritual Support

I honor and support the spiritual practices of the dying person and their families. I help explore existential questions, create meaningful rituals to mark special moments, and foster spiritual well-being throughout the end-of-life journey.
